Wouldn't Let Me Sleep

It's 12:02 am. 19 September 2025.
I came to bed at 11. But I can't sleep.
My mind keeps going back to Nepal — comparing two versions of my life. One where my pocket was empty but sleep came easy. One where the bills get paid but the mornings feel grey.
Wake up.
Go to work.
Come home.
Eat.
Sleep.
Repeat.
I walk past the park on my way to work. Nobody smiles. Nobody really asks how you are. When I ask someone "you alright?" they reply — "one latte and a flat white please."
I smile back. "That's £6.50."
I have an MBA. I studied business for years. But did any business school teach me how real life works? Not really. The most important things I ever learned, I learned while travelling.
Meeting strangers in unfamiliar places. Navigating roads I'd never seen. Sitting with people whose language I didn't speak but whose warmth I understood completely.
There are more temples than care homes. Strangers offer you tea before they ask your name. The highest peak on earth stands quietly, reminding you how small — and how extraordinary — your life really is.
The question that started everything

We get so deep inside the cycle that we forget to look up. We forget that there's another side of the world where people measure richness differently.
How We Got Here
The Night Before a School Trip
The only nights I couldn't sleep as a kid were the nights before a school trip — that electric, restless anticipation of going somewhere new. That feeling. I've been chasing it my whole life.
Eagle Eye Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. (now Voyana Adventures) Is Born
I turned that feeling into a company. In Nepal, for the first time, I wasn't just chasing adventure for myself — I was giving it to other people. Travelers stood at Everest Base Camp and cried. Not from exhaustion. From something they couldn't quite name. I knew that feeling.
COVID. Everything Stops.
The travel industry didn't just slow — it stopped. As the eldest son, I needed income. A friend told me about a café on a boat in the UK. I said yes. I came to Britain looking for a different kind of dream.

I'm writing this in Gloucester, at midnight, because I couldn't sleep.
I moved here from Nepal with empty hands and a full heart. I've worked in a café on a river. I've served a thousand coffees and smiled at a thousand strangers who didn't always smile back.
And I've spent every spare hour keeping Voyana Adventures alive — because I believe, with everything I have, that the world needs more people who have stood at the foot of Everest and felt something crack open inside them.
The day Voyana Adventures becomes fully real — the day I watch the first person board a flight to Nepal with us and come back changed — that will be the day I can finally sleep.
Not because the work is done. But because the dream is no longer just in my head.
